Marrero - hora de comer!
Ayaya this time i try a restaurant managed by 3rd year Petra Christian University's hospitality major. For you whom might not know about this, every year hospitality major run a restaurant and hotel business which change concept and management according to their year. This year it's time for my year to run the business (i'm not in hospitality but i've some friends who is).
Their conceot this time is sometging like Mexican restaurant. Because of my curiousity i finally ask one of my friend in that university to take me there.
I ordered a main menu called Pollo con Marron or something like that (i forgot its menu's name since mostly in Spanish and it's not usual lol). Anyway this dish i ate is a chicken drumstick, i guess it's grilled or fried with little amount of oil then cooked with their special chocolate sauce. Wait. Chocolate? Yes, that chocolate that came from cocoa tree. I found it funny when i read the menu's description so i chose it. It looks like rendang (Indonesian traditional food) but tasted really different. When i eat that i don't think it's salty or savory. But if i were to say it's sweet, it isn't. It's a little bitter because they use dark cooking chocolate, and maybe there's a little taste of spices in it, but i'm not really sure what is it except salt and sugar. Served with fried rice and some garnish but the rice was too mushy and it's pretty tasteless. I actually wanted to order mexican-something-chicken because from the picture the rice looks more delicious than this red fried rice but i attracted to this chocolate-chicken. Lol.
My friend ordered a burger called Sloppy Joe which served with potato chips and Mexican style tomato garnish. I didn't try it tho.
We ordered drinks, mine called Three Musketeers and my friend's was Shirley Temple. Three musketeers has mixed flavors of strawberry and yoghurt, blended with ice and topped with fresh strawberry. I think they should add the yoghurt more or put less ice. It's too aqueous, i prefer it to tasted more thick. I think ot will make it more delicious. My friend's Shirley Temple was too sweet if you mix all the syrup so make sure you don't overmix it. But it's good and topped with cherry.
As our side dish we ordered churros from their bar outside the restaurant, and it's pretty light, so it's a good snack after some meal. I actually like the churros dough because of its light-ness but my friend doesn't really like it. Maybe once again, every food review comes to individual taste.
We spent exactly IDR 100k and they have promotion (6th-8th of May) for every IDR 100k payment the customers can get free dessert called La Vida dr Chocolate. It's a combination of thin vanilla sponge cake as the base, milky chocolate mouse as the main, and some chocolate biscuit crumbs as the topping, with vanilla fla (i could say) to poured on it. It served as a plant pot so it's pretty cute. Lol.
Before we came back, we visited their shoecase, near their hotel's front office. I bought some cakes for take away. I ordered San Limonico, it's a mango flavored mousse cake with yellow semi-jelly coating, decorated with strawberry. On the middle of it it has a thin layer of strawberry (or raspberry or something else idk it's just pink colored lol) jelly too. I also bought a green layer cake. I forgot the name *oops sorry i forgot too many names* but it's the only layer cake there. It has green jelly coating on the top with some tropical fruits on it. I like the mango better than the layer cake but both are delicious! And pretty cheap actually *what makes it even better*. Beside those two cakes, i bought their macaroon. It's obviously cheap and it taste pretty good. It might a little bit hollow but i like it. Talking about the taste. I'm not sure if my tongue has become numb after eat a lot of stuffs today (at least i skipped breakfast for this) but the macaroons tasted a little bit funny. Haha. The waitress said it should be strawberry and dragon fruit flavor. But when i taste it, yes the pink one is definitely the strawberry. But the light brown.. hm i'm not sure what is it. If i say it's dragon fruit, i think it's white dragon fruit which isn't too sweet (and i actually taste some salty flavor like caramel seasalt). While for the dark brown, i actually haven't eat it yet (i mean, eat all those cakes and macaroons once for all, i could be diabetics y'know 😂).
For the price range, i guess around IDR 15k- 60k.
My bill was
Pollo con Marron IDR 29k
Three Musketeers IDR 18K
San Limoneco IDR 14k
Green-layer-cake IDR 17k
Churros IDR 12k (6 pieces)
Macaroon (6 per box) IDR 18k (per box)
One thing that attract me the most at the first time i saw their promotion was their uniform and decorations. It's so cute and lively for me.
P.s: don't ever shake the maracas on the table. I thought it's a decoration and we ca play or take picture with it so i shake it and took a snapchat. But then it turns out used as bells to call for service, bills, or anything like that. Lol.
Catch me on my snapchat: kristin_gaby for the vids i took there! Including their interiors!
